2019 Hair Trends
New Year, New Hair!
2019 is here and we are so excited to see what new hair trends this year will bring! 2018 brought us a lot of beach waves, ashy blondes and of course the always popular balayage.
Living near the coast we have a lot of clients who love the balayage look. Balayage is a highlighting technique in which the dye is painted on instead of using foils like in classic highlights. This technique is great because it creates a low maintenance blonde that only needs to be touched up every two to three months, as opposed to traditional highlights that need maintenance every six weeks. This past year we saw a lot of clients transitioning from highlights to balayage because of easy upkeep and we suspect this is going to be a popular trend for the new year.
Looking forward into 2019 there are three main trends that keep popping up in our research… creamy toned blondes, bobs and sleek updos.
Creamy Toned Blondes
Like we said earlier, 2018 was all about the grey and ash tones, which are gorgeous, but this year is going to be all about the neutral and cream tones! While ash tones are beautiful, they don’t always look great on everyone. Golden and neutral shades work on all skin tones and give you a more natural look. For our brunette beauties, add some dimension with a few face framing, copper balayage highlights.
Bobs
The best way to start off the new year is with some new hair! If your hair is straight a blunt, jawline bob is the perfect way to accentuate your face shape. For our curly headed ladies, a longer “lob” or shoulder length cut will be the perfect way to keep your curls under control while rocking a shorter cut.
Sleek Updos
Did you know that the holiday season is the most popular time of year for engagements? Since New Year’s Eve, our email has been going crazy with inquiries from brides about our 2019 hair and makeup availability! In 2018 we saw a lot of brides going with the “braided, boho” look, however many of this year’s brides have sent us a lot of “pinspirations” featuring more classic looks and sleek updos.
